This year’s Plenary Meeting of the “International Cable Protection Committee” (ICPC) will be held in Dubai from March 18th to 20th 2014.

At the invitation of ICPC, DOC will participate in this event and our managing partner, Mr. Jörg Engicht, will also give a speech on repair and maintenance of subsea power cables. For several years now, Mr. Engicht has been actively involved in the ICPC with a series of lectures as well as a temporary Executive Committee Member and director at a cable manufacturer.

This conference will focus on issues such as co-operation between governments and industry, power cable: overcoming the challenges of depth and distance, or science and new technologies, to name but a few.

About ICPC:

In 1958 the Cable Damage Committee was founded. The organization was re-named in “International Cable Protection Committee” in 1967. Primarily the ICPC focuses on the preparation of recommendations and regulations regarding all subsea cables and their protection. Modern data processing and, especially the internet, required the worldwide development of the telecom cable networks and their protection against damages from external impacts. This was the reason for ICPC to act as coordinating party in this respect. Due to the extensive necessary expansion of the power cable grid and its protection the ICPC recently also started focusing on this industry sector. The Committee consists of International cable operators and maintenance organizations as well as government offices.
