DOC is actively involved in the newly installed offshore viewpoint located in Bremerhaven’s Kaiser Port.

On Friday, September 13th, the “Viewpoint Offshore Wind Energy” was officially inaugurated; Mr. Martin Günthner, the Senator for Economics, Labor and Ports of the Federal State of Bremen and Mr. Melf Grantz, the Mayor of Bremerhaven were among the invited guests.

The viewpoint is conveniently located in the Kaiser Port of Bremerhaven right next to the so-called “Last pub before New York” and across from the ABC-Island which recently had been converted into a heavy-duty offshore terminal. The new attraction not only provides a breathtaking view over a multitude of seemingly supersized offshore components and installation vessels but also further informs the public about the offshore wind sector via information boards and a multimedia terminal. DOC considers thorough information of the public a very important aspect since the willingness to accept and embrace offshore wind energy and the resulting challenges as a necessity for a successful energy turnaround apparently has suffered during the last years. Thus it was self-understood for DOC to actively support this project.

The platform is providing interesting trivia about the offshore wind energy including port infrastructure, installation vessels, manufacturers in Bremerhaven as well as arguments and facts about this energy sector as foundation for the energy turnaround. Independent from operation and visiting hours tourists are able to obtain information on the current installation of offshore wind farms. The sponsoring companies are providing the latest film and photo material which will be continuously updated according to the wind farms’ installation progress.
