This joint project will take a closer look at the protection and safety of offshore wind farms as critical infrastructures within the area of energy.

The project aims at preventing disturbances and/or minimizing their effects. Risks will be detected and analyzed. DOC will act as direct interface between industry and research. T15-02-Auftaktveranstaltung OWiSS Projektpartnerhe University of Applied Sciences Bremerhaven together with its affiliated institutes fk-wind: Institute for wind energy and ISaSS (Institute for Safety and Security Studies) will lead the study. Further affiliated partners involved in this project are the IFAM (Institute for Manufacturing Technology and Advanced Materials), the ISL (Institute of Shipping Economics and Logistics) as well as the ISRIM (Institute for the Law of the Sea and International Marine Environmental Law).

The OWiSS project will be funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and will be supervised by the VDI Technologiezentrum which acts as project execution organization. The joint project comprises a total funding volume of 2.5 Mio € and runs for a 36 month term.

This is already the second research study project with DOC participation – Com4Offshore, a feasibility study funded by ESA (European Space Agency), being the first one.
