On behalf of AREVA Wind, DOC has successfully conducted a training program for the future offshore installation team. The training was especially tailored for AREVA lift tools.
The jointly developed and customized training program was carried out on the exercise area of “Bremerhaven Windzentrum“ in the fisheries harbor. This training is part of an extensive training program concentrating on offshore installation with focus on HSE during which offshore teams of installation vessels were able to gain initial experience concerning crane operations and heavy lifting tools under the guidance of expert tutors. For authenticity reasons an installation platform working deck was simulated on the exercise area. Thus enabling to train the participants for an installation scenario featuring AREVA M5000 5MW OWEC.
During four training sessions in May 2012 offshore experienced tutors were able to provide theoretical knowledge under close-to-reality conditions for the approximately 50 participants of the offshore worker training program.
They were also able to gain practical experience on handling accessories and heavy lifting gear for nacelle or tower traverses. Observations during numerous offshore operations confirm that well-structured trainings and seminars are crucial to safer and more economical offshore installation processes.
